About Starward Whisky

Starward Whisky

Whisky for a curious, food-obsessed generation.

Starward is made in Melbourne. Not the outback. Or a sunshine-soaked beach. Melbourne is the foodie capital of Australia, full of casual brilliance. Here, they ditch the airs and graces and focus on flavour instead.

That’s why Starward use red wine barrels to mature their whisky. Starward source all their whisky ingredients from just a day’s drive away. Then, in the wildly varied Melbourne weather, Starward Whisky draws out its signature fruity, delicious flavour in just three short years. Starward call this elemental maturation and it’s why they couldn’t make their whisky anywhere else.

Starward Melburnian founder, David Vitale, grew up in a big Italian family. He’s food obsessed without ever getting too serious or formal about it. And he knows Starward whisky feels right at home at those moments spent around the dinner table.

The melodic note of the stopper and glugluglug of the pour.

A soothingly smooth sip. Scrumptious, spiced and sweet.

How do you make whisky that’s fundamentally different?

Focus on flavour. Question everything but your intuition. Make use of what’s around you. And don’t take yourself too seriously.

When drinking Starward Whisky, Starward encourage you to do the same. Purists might only sip their whiskies neat. Others might chuck in a slug of tonic and a wedge of grapefruit. Then there’s those who’ll roll up their sleeves and get that cocktail shaker shaking.
